We’ve developed a proprietary training program — CompassCare Works™ — to prepare our CCAs for every situation.

Our signature CompassCare Works™ curriculum is focused on care, hospitality, and service. We find that marrying these three elements is essential to providing best-in-class support to our clients. Our training and curriculum are at the heart of everything that we do.

Care: Our CCAs have been Red Cross certified in CPR and First Aid. We conduct ongoing training, focused on aging related conditions, with all of our CCAs in the field as well as in our own training facility. Our training includes specialized training for working with clients who have memory challenges.

Hospitality & Service: In addition, our CCAs receive specialized professional training in the areas of Communication, Empathic Listening, and Customer Service through CompassCare Institute of Caregiving. Led by Dr. Karl Pillemer, professor of Gerontology at Cornell University's School of Human Ecology and Weill Cornell Medical School, our faculty also includes Dr. Rhoda Meador (Cornell University and Ithaca College Departments of Gerontology) and Dr. Judi Brownell (Cornell University School of Hotel Management).

Collectively, they have developed a proprietary soft skills training program unique to CompassCare called CompassCare Works™. The curriculum covers topics like service excellence, warmth and nonverbal communication, understanding identities and individual differences, conflict resolution, listening to emotions and feelings, and more.
