Changes to the daily routine are to be expected during the holidays. It's important to remember that even small changes can mean big disruption for individuals with Dementia. Maintaining a normal structure for a client or loved one with Dementia is critical in helping these individuals enjoy the celebrations.

  • Even though you’re busy, be consistent with medications, treatments and daily programs.

  • Avoid drastic changes in diet. Consider the older adult's sensitive GI system.

  • Limit excessive amounts of treats, sweets, and alcohol.

  • Maintain wake and sleep habits, and routines before bed.
